I keep nostalgic technology.

It’s black with silver trim. It’s a nostalgic piece of technological history. It’s my Sony Beta Max player. That’s right. A handful of years ago, I was having a conversation with a church office manager about movies. I don’t know how, but the subject of her Beta Max came up and before I knew it, I was the proud owner of a classic Sony Beta Max player with a small library of movie gems to accompany it, including Top Gun, Indiana Jones, Star Wars and Play Misty for Me. I nestled it into my collection and have since traveled with it from suburban Philadelphia to New England and back to Philadelphia and currently it’s resting on the bottom shelf of my entertainment center in Austin, Texas.  Imagine watching the Tony Scott classic Top Gun through occasional wavy lines. Doesn’t matter! It’s a Beta Max. She’s all mine and I’m not getting rid of her.
