What does it mean to “receive the Kingdom of God like a little child?”

Also, how is it significant that in the first three gospels, Jesus welcoming the little children is followed by his advice to the rich young ruler?

I’m reading Into the Wild by John Krakauer now (good book) and came across this quote:
