would it be worse to live under a brutal dictator, or in a climate of virtual anarchy?
i find this question interesting mostly because a number of reports recently claim that more and more iraqis have begun to long for “the good old days” of saddam, which seems amazing to me.
There’s lots of nostalgia in Russia for the good ol days of Stalin too. Never mind that 20 million people had to die — at least crime rates were low and everybody had a job.
