A UK newspaper has published some interesting global warming predictions from a “secret pentagon report.”

Here’s another summary of the Pentagon report, and a link to the report itself. (Apparently it was leaked first to Forbes, not the Observer.)

The question is: [b:c91b1ba65f] now that the Pentagon suggests global warming could be a national security issue—will Bush begin to listen? [/b:c91b1ba65f]

The Pentagon report doesn’t make happy reading. Its authors were asked to “imagine the unthinkable — to push the boundaries of current research on climate change” to understand the implications for national security. The scenario they come up with, though “not the most likely, is plausible,” and “would challenge the United States national security in ways that should be considered immediately.”
