i’ve got this thing. when ever i’m sitting and just sitting, and i think man, i should be thinking about something, i think of bananas and chickens. i’m not sure why. but it’s not like i think of the best banana that i’ve ever eaten, or the best chicken that i’ve eaten or seen, rather i think about the word. i like the way that banana has so many n’s and a’s. i like how the word comes out of my mouth. i like that if you just say it people are like what? and i smile. banana. i like typing it too. i like to type banananananana because eventually it just gets silly. bananananananana. i used to think there needed to be 2 n’s somewhere but i was mistaken. bananana. bannanna. ananab. and chicken. i’m not sure why. chicken. it just fits. in my head somewhere chicken. and again it’s not really the animal. if anything it’s the white meat, but more than that i think it’s the word. not as much as banana, but somehow it all fits. banana’s and chicken’s. i was watching craig kilborn and he was interviewing jack black. they were talking about words that just fit. words that just are more right. jack black likes underpants instead of underwear. craig kilborn likes slacks in stead of pants. so they came up with underslacks. which i’m not so sure about, but hey. then if you add man to banana it’s funny, not only because it sounds funny, but look at it, bananaman. it’s just a ‘m’ instead of another n. bananaman . i like words. chickenman. i also like chicken.

You’ve liked banana for a while now. I remember it from the old thinkwonder.com days. It’s a good word all right.

How do you feel about “rural?” Say out loud a few times. Try it out.

interesting muse – a banana
this is made more interesting by the fact that bananas stand alone – there is nothing quite like them. now chickens on the otherhand -well, everything tastes like chicken. but bananas are different and come from far away – they are exotic yet a quite normal part of our morning routine. chop the top, yank yank yank, slice slice slice slice slice slice slice slice slice into logs and into the cheerios they go. They travel with us in cars. Make a great smoothie and listen so compassionatly at the end of a long day. i wish my chicken had that kind of courtesy.
