Having spent over a month with Bill Mallonee on the road, I had the chance to talk about many of these ideas with a man who has been around the music ‘block’ for over 10 years. One of the things that Bill said over and over, which I thought was very helpful was, "you don’t need a major label to affirm or validate your art’. The idea seemed to be, do what you love and let the chips fall where they may. It seems to me that once an artist begins to caiter to the idea of ‘making it’ on a major level, the end is in sight.

Grant, explain more fully yoru reaction to the Calvin festival artists who spoke about their art. What was your concern again?
