Now that the music thing is done, Calvin’s English department updated their site on the literature conference. Apparently they have commitments from Buechner and Joyce Carol Oates. If we’re lucky, maybe Schaap and Cook will show up! (That should be funny if any of you have been to a couple of these things.)
Anyway, I missed the last one but am really looking forward to next year. Hopefully we’ll see blisster and Dave and some of the others there. Check out the link and plan early!

I’m not sure how to take Brother Norbert’s note. Is he suggesting that, once again, he’ll be embarrassed if Schaap and Cook, those two old geezers, show up; or is he actually looking forward to seeing them, given the ready supply of belly laughs the two of them must unknowingly generate with their appearances?

I got an inside track here. If Brother Norbert would like to suggest a course of action for the Schaap/Cook tag team to take with respect to showing up at next year’s Festival, he (Brother Norbert) might just breath that suggestion to me and I’ll let them know what he’d suggest, thereby saving them some face.

Well Hello there!
I couple hours after I posted that I saw your name as a new member. How ‘bout that?
I just meant that it’s a pretty fair assumption that you two fine gentleman would be putting in another appearance. It’s funny how you’re never mentioned as headliners, but always seem to be crowd pleasers.
Why is that? =)
I’m looking forward to seeing you again professor Schaap.

Yeah, the Festival of Faith and Writing is great. I wonder if *cino should set up its booth there too. Maybe Schaap could fit our website into a story or into part of his speech. He could talk about how *cino unites an author’s fans with the author himself and could include a little anecdote about the guy who wrote a potentially misunderstood post about Schaap and Cook (the regulars at the Faith and Writing Conference).

Has anybody attended this conference as a high school student? I went as a freshman at Dordt and found it to be a wonderful experience. I’m in the middle of copious ammounts of red tape in trying to take 6-10 high school juniors and seniors from my school (a public one) to the conference. Any ideas on how worth it it would be for them? My school has given me the green light, but is reacting very warily about taking students to Michigan for half a week. Any ideas on how best to approach the school board for permission?

Thanks for bringing this up! I’ve not been to the festival before but have heard nothing but good things about it. I’ll be attending in 2004. And *cino should certainly have a booth!

I will be sending away my registrations tomorrow hopefully. I have seven students who will be attending along with another teacher and myself. I missed the last one and am really anxious about getting back there. I do have a question though. I am going to have one male high school student who will need a hotel room. I would rather not make him spring 75 a night for one room. Are there other high school students out there looking for hotel rooms?
One more question: how many cino posters will be attending? It would be fun to meet up and have lunch together. Match faces with names and discuss the sessions together.

I’m planning on attending. Another question: is anyone travelling to the festival from out East who can give Amanda and I a ride?

rob and i will be there—rob to man the *cino display and i to attend the conference. i agree that we should designate a time and place for *cino folk to meet, which we can start discussing as soon as they post the conference schedule.

would anyone be interested in spending all or part of Sunday (the day after the conference ends) in Three Rivers, just an hour and a half south of G.R.? we have plenty of sleeping room at the cottage for Saturday night.

I’m looking forward to my first Festival of Faith and Writing. I’ll actually be there as an exhibitor with BHP/Baker. Stop by and say hello!
