I hope everyone’s ready for the big screen version of Derrida! It’s coming soon to theatres. Don’t worry, Dave, I’m sure it’s not self-referential.

Derrida is a Zeitgeist film scheduled to come out 10/23/02. Don’t know a whole lot more about it. It is not a DTS release.

Here’s some more info on the film. The production notes give a better idea as to what’s in store.

May God have mercy on us all.

It’s playing in Chicago sometime in Nov., Grant. Let me know how it turns out.

I just saw Derrida The Movie two weeks ago. It’s a great introduction to Derrida if you don’t want to read all his books. The music was a bit too much, but the point was made: here is a living historical figure right before our eyes; now is our chance to ask him about his sex life! Derrida squirms throughout the documentary, obviously uncomfortable being trapped in the cruel clutch of someone else’s storytelling. If anyone’s interested in having a thematic film evening, I’d start with Derrida The Movie followed by Storytelling and maybe Woody Allen’s Deconstructing Harry as a come-down.
