A seed sprouts

Dear Mr. Lorax,

You don’t know me, and I don’t know if you plan on coming back, but I wanted you to know that I have planted my Truffula Tree seed. I will treat it with care, give it clean water and feed it fresh air, just like Mr. Once-ler told me to do.

Maybe someday the Swomee-Swans will come back, and my tree will have a Swomee-Swan nest in it, and the Brown Bar-ba-loots, in their Bar-ba-loot suits, can eat the Truffula fruits, and the Humming-fish will hum in the shady water underneath. I’ve always wanted to see a Bar-ba-loot.

You’ll be glad to know that I have put away my Thneed. To be honest, it is quite handy at times — it really can do anything! But, I’ve decided that I don’t need that Thneed. I’d rather have a hundred Truffula Trees than one of those things.

Mr. Once-ler said that you’re bossy. But I think you’re bossy because you care. I’m not as bossy as you are, but I think I care, too. I might even care a whole awful lot, like you do. I’ll do my best to make sure that my Truffula Tree grows up big and tall, and then I can plant more trees, and I can give seeds to all my friends, too, because I want something to change. I want more Truffula Trees.

Sincerely,

A little girl who heard about you from Mr. Once-ler and got the Truffula Tree seed
