  • What do you think of when you hear the term “feminine”?  Is it a positive or negative term for you?  Have you had to try to shift your thinking in some way?
  • What did your mother and grandmothers teach you about what it means to be a woman?  Have you embraced or struggled against this image?

Linguistically speaking, “feminine” means having “female” attributes, so when I hear this word, it conjurs images of “the feminist movement” of the 1960’s, whereas the word female is OK! Feminism IS a negative term for me in the sense that it epitomizes a tension between the sexes. I have tried to change my thinking , but find most women to be manipulative, by choice or necessity, I do not know! My mother and grandmother, were mainly homebodies, and that has taught me “Good Housekeeping.” I have embraced this image, and now it is helping me to survive!

You may be unique in your perception of the word “feminine” Ivor. I would venture to say that most people would here “feminine” and think of good attributes, perhaps even the opposite of the feminist movement.
