Processional: “Let All Things Now Living”

Welcome & Prayer

CREATION

Poem: “Pied Beauty” by Gerard Manley Hopkins

GLORY be to God for dappled things—
For skies of couple-colour as a brinded cow;
For rose-moles all in stipple upon trout that swim;
Fresh-firecoal chestnut-falls; finches’ wings;
Landscape plotted and pieced — fold, fallow, and plough;
And all trades, their gear and tackle and trim.
All things counter, original, spare, strange;
Whatever is fickle, freckled (who knows how?)
With swift, slow; sweet, sour; adazzle, dim;
He fathers-forth whose beauty is past change:
Praise him.

Song: “O Sacred Head Now Wounded”

Poem: “Holy Sonnet XIV” by John Donne

Batter my heart, three-person’d God; for you
As yet but knock; breathe, shine, and seek to mend;
That I may rise, and stand, o’erthrow me, and bend
Your force, to break, blow, burn, and make me new.
I, like an usurp’d town, to another due,
Labour to admit you, but O, to no end.
Reason, your viceroy in me, me should defend,
But is captived, and proves weak or untrue.
Yet dearly I love you, and would be loved fain,
But am betroth’d unto your enemy;
Divorce me, untie, or break that knot again,
Take me to you, imprison me, for I,
Except you enthrall me, never shall be free,
Nor ever chaste, except you ravish me.

Message

Vows & Exchange of Rings

I, Rob, take you, Kirstin, to be my wife and in doing so, I promise to be a husband of noble character and the embodiment of faith, hope and love. I promise to be faithful to you, body and mind, as we grow together in our faithfulness to Christ. I will be with you through all of the joy, laughter, sorrow and pain we will encounter while discovering God’s wonderful plan for us. I promise to remain hopeful in everything, through times of prosperity and times of want; through all of the adventures we’re bound to have as we try to make the world a better place in Christ. I promise to love you forever, always serving and respecting you. My love for you and for God will become increasingly stronger. I give you this ring as a symbol of these promises.

I, Kirstin, take you, Rob, to be my husband and in doing so, I promise to be a wife of noble character and the embodiment of faith, hope and love. I promise to be physically and emotionally faithful to you and spiritually faithful to our God. I promise to be perpetually hopeful, shaping our relationship towards perfection and transforming the world for the coming of the Kingdom by promoting justice and showing love to all. I promise to love you as my husband, making the decision to love you when the emotions inevitably falter and being worthy of your trust and respect. And I promise to love God above all, continually seeking His purpose. I give you this ring as a symbol of these promises.
