Native to my genes,
this need to rush
to do more
to OVERFILL EACH MOMENT.
Aggressively I seek
pause,
voraciously I hunt
stillness….
So many worthy ways to spend
that resource we all watch fly.
So many needy causes and me
—His hands, His feet—
surely I must go, must do.
Otherwise…what?
See-sawing, teetering
as I slide my foot along
that high wire—'Go and make,
Be still and know…'

keep me from falling,
failing or forgetting
to be…..just be.
