Vol 5, Num 14 :: 2006.07.14 — 2006.07.28
Looking back, I’m not surprised
that she turned to salt; the tears
must have been accumulating
in her for years until she
was like the Dead Sea, her soul
floating precariously
on top of the deep fears that
by leaving she would lose who
she was. When the time arrived,
it seems to fit—the hot flames
burning the liquid from
back-turned eyes, leaving
a pillar of
the soul-fled
resi-
due.
