Once school’s done, second week of June or so, the B-C’s are usually up for any camping any place any time. Until then, I drink water from my nalgene bottle while I hunch at the kitchen table grading papers.

the only weekend that doesn’t work for rob and i is that of July 19 (my sister’s wedding) and i suppose if it’s going to be multiple days’ trips away, not the weekend before that either.
all of the proposed locations sound interesting, although i’d like to plug Utah as being more accessible by major highways. also, a couple of years ago, we took a two-lane scenic route from I-70 to Moab (Hwy. 128 along the Colorado River) and it was absolutely amazing. there are a lot of state/national parks in the Moab area…and maybe we could do a little rafting. the Lake Powell area looked amazing as well when we drove through.
we would not recommend Willard Bay State Park north of Salt Lake City.

What proposed locations? Did I miss something?

We’d love to be part of the camping this year. Like Kristin, I have a sibling getting married this year, so we’d like to avoid the first weekend in August (unless you want to try for something in BC or near Seattle!!).
We also suggest the Great Smokies or the Outer Banks for the Eastern site.

I am interested. How about the Redwood National Forest for the western site? Early-mid June would be good.

My vote is somewhere in the Southwest.
We can go out to the desert and get lost a la Jim Morrison.

I would also vote for early to mid June, if possible. I know it’s early in the summer, but we may have grad school to start in July.

How many people would be willing to travel as far as the Redwood National Forest?
Also, I like the idea of the Smokies. Are there any specific camping areas that anyone would suggest?

I need to know who is interested, where they’re likely to want to go (possible locations, camping sites they’d recommend etc.) and what weekend dates work for them. And any questions related to this phase are welcome.
