Ryan,

I too love the new dylan album. I found it quite refreshing and two decent albums in a row is an accomplishment for dylan. Has anyone heard of Atomic Opera? They have a new one coming out in april. I’m always interested in a band who writes songs in 15/3 meter.

Some of them were born in Armenia and Lebanon I think but have lived in America most of their lives.
Juvenile is the feeling I get from the music itself. Not that its always a bad feeling.

I know this is old news, but I’m fine with Blink 182 too. Their newest album, although not a classic, is really alot of fun to listen too (I’ve only heard it once, but I liked it that one time). If The Strokes turn people on to VU, their mission would be accomplished. Weezer and RHCP, yes.

I can’t believe people are still into Reznor. The new NIN DVD looks very dated, with all the lyrics pointing to Reznor’s angst and all the darkness and violence. Yet he’s on the Billboard charts. Maybe my judgement is affected by Septermber 11.

I think everyone should just drop what they are doing and listening too and pick up Love and Theft by Dylan and listen to that for a while. Maybe I am an old fart but I just can’t get enough of this album. Is anyone with me on this? Come on, now. It is just so much fun and his band kicks bum. In an age that seems to love roots music this album shouldn’t be left out. Yeah!

Oh, and to add a few words to the Durst Axis of evil debate, the fact that he has introduced the world to PUDDLE OF MUDD. I guess some people like them, but I am not a fan. and I don’t like it when bands add letters to simple words that don’t need letters added to them.

If anyone deserved to have more than one topic of discussion devoted to them, Dylan would be the one. But I’ll just mention that two Chicago critics had a small debate about his performance at the Grammys. One guy said, since it was technically unsound and such, it wasn’t his best. The other said it was disturbing in a good way. I side with the latter. It’s the kind of thing these fake male-anger bands would benefit from experiencing.

A heads up to those searching for newish rock music: it’s a band from Liverpool called “Clinic”. The music sounds interesting. I don’t know about their head gear, though. They all wear surgical masks. Kind of gimmicky, but the feel of the music is truly unique.

another newish band that I think is worth taking notice of is a band out of the Vancouver area called the New Pornograpers. Okay, so the name isn’t the best, but the music is really top notch. They are an amalgam of a bunch of local bands, and includes the vocal talents of Neco Case, some one you alt-country fans may know (I think everyone should check out her albums too). Anyhow, The New Pornographers are kind of a blend of new wave punk influences and catchy pop hooks. Imagine the Beach Boys hooking up with the Pixies and coming up with an album, and you would get something like THe New Pornographers. Their album is called Mass Romantic and it is hard to find in the states, but is available on Amazon and other internet sellers. It is really worth a listen. Cheers

I guess this is now more of a music recommendation thread. And that’s okay.

Try the White Stripes. You’ll like them.

Hey Jason,

Did you hear that Britney and Justin might break up?! Apparently, commitment is not for those who think young (sexy wink). The axis of evil continues.

I did hear that and it’s a terrible shame. Why was that question directed toward me, particularly? I do not understand.
