I am curious as to what films everyone saw for the first time in 2004 and really enjoyed, whether they be films that had their theatrical release in 2004 (even if you didn’t actually see them til 2005), or ones that are really old but you finally got around to seeing for the first time.

Yah, City of God was really good. It had a unique look and feel. A really powerful movie.
The documentary they put on the DVD about the Brazilian slums was pretty upsetting too.

Baby Geniuses 2 was the finest work of celluloid I have seen thus far in my career. Followed shortly by Funky Monkey (aka Hairy Tale).

Lots of good answers.

I really enjoyed [i:5c9ae53a13]Primer[/i:5c9ae53a13], though it was rarely seen. Most will dismiss it as being too heady or whatnot, but it’s spellbinding and creepy look at the concept of time travel and the moral ramifications.
